Dietary supplement manufacturer, FermaHealth, Bellevue, WA, has unveiled Effisoy, which is positioned as a natural remedy for menopause. According to the company, a recent pilot study of the product’s primary ingredient, AglyMax™, demonstrated a 54% reduction in hot flash composite score. AglyMax is a soy germ extract with standardized levels of isoflavones in their most usable form (aglycones). A large-scale, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial is currently underway at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a major teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, to further validate the effect of Effisoy’s primary ingredient on the frequency and severity of menopausal hot flashes as the primary endpoint.
